Ayurved, the science of life, is a system of indigenous medicine practiced in India since ancient times. Ayurvedic medicines are mainly herbal preparations. Ayurved lays great emphasis on the infallible diagnosis of patient’s ailments and then seeks to administer the right medicines. It has helped in curing several chronic diseases. Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust endeavours to teach, spread and promote Ayurved and offer its benefits to the entire world.

Ayurved Hospital & Research Centre was established by the Trust in 1984 under the able guidance of the Director, Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh. The centre is well equipped with Ayurvedic and Allopathic infrastructure. The Centre was recognized as Ph.D. Centre of Pune University from 1984. The Hospital is NABH Accredited Hospital & CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) approved Ayurved Hospital for Panchakarma treatment.

DEPARTMENTS

Kayachikitsa

Kayachikitsa (कायचिकित्सा) is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine from India. The term comes from Sanskrit:

  • Kaya (काय) = body

  • Chikitsa (चिकित्सा) = treatment or therapy

Panchakarma

Panchakarma (पञ्चकर्म) is one of the most important detoxification and purification therapies in Ayurveda. The word literally means “five actions” (from pancha = five, karma = actions), and these five therapeutic procedures aim to cleanse the body of accumulated toxins (ama) and balance the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).

PANCHAKARMA

Panchakarma treatment has a significant role in promoting health and prevention of disease. According to Ayurveda, human body is composed of three Doshas, seven Dhatus and three Malas. Equilibrium of all three maintains healthy state of our body and mind. Imbalance manifests diseases. Panchakarma are the procedures of eliminating vitiated Doshas from body through nearby route. It is a curative remedy as well as preventive treatment for many diseases. It causes purification of body. Before Panchakarma therapy some pre-procedures like Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation) are essential.

VAMANA (EMESIS) :

A process in which the upsurged Doshas are expelled out of the body through mouth, by administering the medicines meant for inducing vomiting (Vamana). It is useful in chronic ailments of Kapha like cold, cough, bronchitis etc. It is also useful in skin diseases.

VIRECHANA (PURGATION) :

It is a process in which the upsurged Doshas are expelled out of the body through the anus. It is achieved by administering the medicines meant for inducing purgation (Virechana). This procedure is useful in chronic ailments of Pitta like hyperacidity, improper digestion etc. It is also useful for skin diseases.

RAKTAMOKSHANA (BLOOD LETTING) :

Blood letting from the body is known as Raktamokshana. It is usually done by venesection or by applying leeches on the required area. This procedure is done principally for Pitta and blood disorders. It is extremely beneficial in skin diseases & diseases of spleen and liver.
